? About Us - BMCB
The Bukit Merah Concert Band consists of a team of enthusiastic young people who have the same
passion for music.
This year, the band's membership had increased to 70+ and it also has undergone quite a number of changes.
Under the baton of our conductor, Ms Esther Lim, we have performed in various events such as Chinese New Year, Sec1 Orientation, Speech Day & National Day.
We also had band exchanges with Henderson, Yu Ying, Si Ling & MacPherson Secondary School.
Through these activities, we had learnt something from the people in other bands.
Last year, the band have lots of events like the Festivo,
National Day performances, Competiton etc.. The band also went to Hongkong for masterclass and a school exchange together with a performance at the Disneyland.
Now we are working forward for the SYF.

Hey guys...
I'm glad that all of you enjoyed the performance, and I hope you remember the sweat, blood and tears that you went through to prepare for this concert. Through it all, a lot of people stood steadfast by your side and always believed that you guys would be able to pull through. Please don't forget the efforts of all the teachers (Ms Neo, Ms Kong etc) who worked extra hard (and extra hours!) in order to ensure that you guys could concentrate on performing and not have to do any extra things like setting up the stage and front of house. Please don't forget the teachers in charge of us who were always persistently pushing you from the back and really putting in a LOT of extra hours so that you guys could practice.
We still have a long looooooooooooong way to go to improve ourselves, but we will all take tiny steps together to make this band into a better one. Not for the medals and the glory, but for the pure enjoyment of being able to make good music as a group, and making anyone who listens to us feel our enjoyment as well.
The road ahead of us is long and hard. But we'll walk this road together, one step at a time.
Sec 4s - we will miss you very much, and I hate to do this to you, but I am imposing a ban on ALL Sec 4s from the band room. You are NOT allowed to come in to play your instrument until you have completed your O levels. If you like, you may come to sit in for a while during band practice, but not exceeding more than 15 minutes. Please concentrate on studying. When you have finished your O levels, we will fully enjoy ourselves in HK together.
Thank you for all the presents that you gave. I can feel the luuuuuuuuuuuuuurve ooooooozing out from the time that you guys spent preparing the presents. The best present that any of you can give me would be to tell me upon graduation, that you have learnt more than just to play your instrument in your years in the band.
Ms Lim
