The Bukit Merah Concert Band consists of a team of enthusiastic young people who have the same passion for music.
This year, the band's membership had increased to 70+ and it also has undergone quite a number of changes.

Under the baton of our conductor, Ms Esther Lim, we have performed in various events such as Chinese New Year, Sec1 Orientation, Speech Day & National Day.
We also had band exchanges with Henderson, Yu Ying, Si Ling & MacPherson Secondary School.
Through these activities, we had learnt something from the people in other bands.
Last year, the band have lots of events like the Festivo, National Day performances, Competiton etc.. The band also went to Hongkong for masterclass and a school exchange together with a performance at the Disneyland. Now we are working forward for the SYF.

12/04/08 - Bukit Merah's 40th Speech Day
The band played general salute for the parade.
and the 2 pieces 'Hustle' and 'I Could Have Danced All Night' for the performance in the hall.

Then, after all the performances, assembled in the band room.
Unexpectedly, a formal teacher-in-charge of band came for a visit.
She was Mrs Toh who joined bukit merah from 1979 to 1993.
When she officially joined this school, the principal assigned her to be the band teacher-in-charge.
She said that the band is a school's fence. it gives other an impression of the school, and gives the school a sense of security and protection.

Being the only teacher in charge, she brought the band to St. John camp.
She was really brave you know, because all the other bands had at least 3 or more teachers in charge.
there, the brain child and the others came up with a band cheer within 2 nights.
It was the cheer which brought everyone together really as one.
and that particular band cheer has been passed down all the way till now which is a long 27 years.
so please, let this cheer pass on. it is really meaningful.
and it strengthens our united and our spirit.

The band is not only a group of different people performing on stage together, but a big family.

anyway, work hard for Festivo I in June.
and nonetheless, study hard.
band members will always be there for band members. (:

SIHUI HAS WON THE BM IDOL CONTEST!

she's our bass clarinet player.
and she was sick on the day of the finals.
despite of her terrible block nose, she sang the song "how do i live" beautifully.

Good job for Wahidah and Muzna too!

Finally! the graduation party.
Before the alumnis arrive, had rehearsals xD

heres the performance! we presented a skit consisting of different performances.

It started many many many many many many years ago, when 8 ugas dont know anything about music.
even the tv was watched without sound.

Then, the tv exploded! and a loud BOOM was heard.
the ugas are fascinated by that sound and starting singing tunes to it.






























Then, as time pass, people started to form bands.
and the committee members played the piece "friends for life".















Then, people realised there are still loads of things you can do with music.
and some of the band members put up a dance item.













































and lastly, there was the singing item.
It started off with the two 'boss' having some arguements on the song choice.













































But they managed to put aside their differences and sang the song "we're all in this together".

Next was the giving out of prizes to the best sections, section leaders and best recruit.
and there was a powerpoint slide of our old photos and a cutting cake session.
We had a really good time.
